How often should you rotate the tyres?

Rotating your tires in a timely fashion is necessary to ensure even tread wearing of the car tires, thus resulting in optimal traction while on the road

The best time to rotate the tyres is when you get the oil changed. This is under the assumption that you get the oil changed at least once a year and more frequently if you drive more than ten thousand miles annually. Most vehicle companies advise that you schedule the tyre rotation along with the oil changing schedule. However, in some cases e.g. BMW, it is advisable to get the oil changed at about 15,000 miles. In such cases, you should refrain from scheduling tyre rotation along with oil change and instead get the tyres rotated every 6 months or 7500 miles, whichever earlier. There could be an exception in case you drive less than 7500 miles per year apart from which you should get your tire rotation done at least every 6 months.
Tire rotation is important as the tires mounted on the front base or the drive wheels perform an extra function and thus risk a chance of ruining fast. On front-wheel-drive vehicles that are amplified by the weight of the engine and transmission, and because the front tires do most of the work in turns. Constant rotation between front and back tyres evens out the pressure on both the set of tyres thereby maintaining longevity.
Auto manufacturers which offer all-wheel drive also recommend tyre rotation at frequent intervals to ensure that the tyres of your vehicle wear out evenly. This reduces the risk posed to the drive by worn out tyres and also improves your vehicle’s overall performance.
There is obviously an exception to these rules. Some performance models have different schedules in regards to tyre rotation. It is recommended to follow the schedule and get the tires rotated at least once a year.
It is not always necessary to head out to the dealership to get the tyre rotation done. You can always reach out to a car mechanic, tyre dealers or other auto-repair shops to finish your task for a nominal fee.
